OUR CLASSES
Found the drive and motivation to get active while learning a martial art? We’re thrilled to hear it. We offer classes for both kids and adults. Check out our class descriptions and class times below.
TAEKWON-DO FOR KIDS
AGES 8-13
Mondays & Fridays (Sligo), 6.00pm - 6.55pm
Through our 'Learn to Play and Practice' programme for 8-13-year-olds we will:

Emphasize safety, self-control and respect
-
Consolidate and refine foundation Taekwon-Do skills
-
Encourage learning the game (Taekwon-Do competition)

Develop practical tactical knowledge for sparring that builds basic strategies for attack and defence

Introduce decision making during sparring situations
-
Take advantage of increased trainability for the development of Taekwon-Do specific skills
-
Develop motor skills (agility, balance, coordination, rhythm, time/space orientation, speed, dexterity “hand-eye coordination”, etc)

Introduce conditioning using primarily own body weight exercises

Introduce fundamental mental skills that emphasize concentration, emotional control and confidence

Facilitate cognitive development in areas such as recall, memory, concentration, problem-solving, communication and decision making
-
Nurture psycho/social development: desire to be active, develop confidence, dedication and commitment, communication and relational skills
TAEKWON-DO FOR TEENS AND ADULTS
AGES 14 +
Mondays & Fridays (Sligo), 6.45pm - 7.55pm
In need of some motivation to get up and workout? Don’t you fret. At Northwest Taekwon-Do Clubs - Sligo ITF, our classes are designed to make working out more enjoyable.

Through our Teen and Adult Classes you will:
Develop flexibility, agility and coordination
Learn the martial art and sport of Taekwon-Do
Meet and train with dedicated and motivated individuals
Become part of a team
Challenge yourself in new ways
Learn new skills and get more out of your body!
Learn ITF Taekwon-Do patterns
Learn semi-contact sparring in a controlled environment
Have the option to compete throughout the year
OPEN MAT
Sundays TBC each week
Our Open mat class is available during the term for additional grading and competition preparations. If you’re looking to build up a sweat working on specific drills or practice patterns and fundamental movements this class is for you. This is an informal class for some extra training in an area you would like to work on.
